December 2018 Ipsy + Birch Box
1. Sugar Cosmetics – Contour De Force Mini Bronzer in 02 Woody Wonder
This actually wasn’t in my ipsy bag this month. I got a blush (which I have too many of and don’t use), so I traded with my mom who got this bronzer in her bag this month! The one I currently use is running low and has a shimmer to it. This one is matte and goes on really nicely. It’s can be applied lightly for a subtle look or layered for a darker, more dramatic look.
2. Juice Beauty – Stem Cellular 2-in-1 Cleanser
As I am getting to the end of my favorite face wash I’ve ever used (also from an ipsy bag), I had high hopes for this one and I am happy to report this cleanser is great! It smells incredible and like my current one, this face wash is a 2-in-1 so it removes makeup and cleanses your skin in one wash – the best!
3. Luna by Luna Cosmetics – Baked Highlighter in Electra
The perfect amount of pearly shimmer! Probably my favorite highlighter so far because it has more of a pearlescent shimmer and is not glittery like some highlighters. Gorgeous and my new go-to highlighter/eyeshadow!
4. Benefit Cosmetics – Gimme Brow+ in Cool Light Blonde
I’m extremely picky about brow products. My eyebrows are a victim of the pencil-thin brow trend in the early 2000’s and are very sparse on the tails because of it. These kind of brow gels don’t work for people like me because they require brow hairs for them to coat. I’m sure it would be a great product for people with light brows that want to tame and darken them, but unfortunately it does not work for me.
5. Murad – Renewing Eye Cream
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it one hundred more times – I LOVE skincare products. I have heard Murad is a good brand so I have been using this eye cream in my nightly skincare routine. With all eye creams/serums, I don’t notice a difference in my under-eye. Eye creams and serums are mostly meant for anti-aging and I’ll be thankful in 30 years that I used eye cream in my 20s, even if I don’t notice the effect now.
Holiday Gift: F.A.R.A.H Brushes – Tapered Blending Brush 35E
It was so nice of Ipsy to throw an extra item in the glam bag this month for all subscribers! This brush is GORGEOUS and feels so nice to hold. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but it is so soft and fluffy!
1. Project Beauty – Hairgurt™ Smoothing Yogurt Hair Mask – Strawberry Banana
This isn’t so much a hair mask as it is a deep conditioner. You shampoo your hair and then apply this and leave it on 5-10 minutes – you can just apply it in the shower. It is scented strawberry banana and smells so sickly sweet, but it a good way! My hair wasn’t soft as silk or anything after using it, but it worked as well as any other deep conditioner I’ve used.
2. Oribe – Supershine Moisturizing Cream
Oribe is an amazing hair brand used by many celebrities (if you fancy that sort of thing!). The man behind Oribe, named Oribe Canales, just passed away this month. He was a legend in the hair industry and you can read his story on www.oribe.com/story.
Birch Box has sent me quite a few Oribe products – a couple of them being dry shampoo which I don’t use. I’ve been using the wave and shine spray to add some texture to my hair! This moisturizing cream is really nice to apply to my hair when it’s still damp after showering and it keeps my hair smooth and shiny!
3. Sunday Riley – C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum
FINALLY I got to try a product from Sunday Riley! I am SO excited about this product! The full size of this retails for a whopping $85 for just 1oz!! This sample is .17oz which is worth over $14 itself. It smells great (obviously an important part of beauty products for me), it is moisturizing, and makes my skin glow! I love love love it.
4. Marcelle – CC Cream SPF 35 Complete Correction in Golden Glow
As with all sunscreen products, I had to test this on my arm before slathering it on my face because I am allergic to sunscreen without knowing which exact ingredient I’m allergic to. I am happy to say that I am not allergic to this product! I love having a lightweight cc cream for every day use. Sunscreen is important in the skincare routine because it protects your face from damage from the sun. This cc cream doesn’t go on very easily because it doesn’t want to spread. You either need to mix it with a moisturizer or use a good amount of it.
5. Qveen Studio – Matte Lip Satin in Expensive Taste
Lip satin is my favorite because of how smooth it goes on and how nice it feels. It has all the benefits of lip stain or matte liquid lipstick, but doesn’t dry out and make my lips feel crusty. This isn’t quite my color because it’s a more raspberry pink and brighter pinks aren’t great on me. A nice quality lipstick, though!
